Bits and Pieces!!

Although I don't feel ready to post "completed" pictures and because I don't want to ruin the surprise of the way the finished product will look, I've decided to post some bits and pieces of the remodel. Let me just tell you...it is gorgeous!

This morning when I was getting ready for work I stopped to take a look around and I didn't want to leave, it's so beautiful!

Jan said last night she felt a little bad about having such nice things. I'm sure you would all agree with me that she deserves it! She has been more than generous with her time, talents, and money. Jan and Merrill have been wonderful hosts for so many family get togethers! We are grateful to them and are happy for them to have such awesome upgrade to their home!

And The Work Continues...

Like many of you, I've been away from the Bailey house for quite sometime and have missed seeing the recent progress of the remodel. Luckily Jan sent me pictures to post so you all can see it too. (Shh...no one tell Gina I let Eli sit around in his jammies watching Sponge Bob while I finished it...it's not all bad, he snacked on carrot slices - his choice!)

The lighting is in and the floor is being installed. The floor is installed but it still needs to be stained and finished.
Next step installation of the granite counter tops.....Oh WAIT.....I need to take a step back. I neglected to post pictures of the selection of the granite. Jan went to the granite supplier and was able to set the templates for the counter tops on the sections of granite she liked the best.Ok back to the installation....I really like the granite window sill, good idea Andrew! (and check out the sink! It took quite some time to find just the right under counter mount sink)
The floor still needs to be stained. The wall on the right is the new paint color, the other walls will have a different treatment.
Looks great so far...I'm so excited to see what's next!!

Random Update

I usually like to update this blog when some new milestone has been met, and right now I feel like we're in the middle of several milestones but not quite there yet. That being said, I did receive a request for an update so here goes.

I promise before the end of this blog I will get a better picture of Andrew. I'm not sure what Andrew's exact title for the project is but suffice it to say without him none of this would be possible. He is the Architect, General Contractor, and I was surprised to find out he is also the casework installer!

It's looking like a kitchen again. The cabinets are beautiful. Painting, flooring, counter tops, sink, stove and dishwasher install still have to be done (not in that order)

Since Merrill really liked the look of the textured ceiling in the front room, or maybe it was just that he has always hated the acoustical "popcorn" ceiling, he decided to have the acoustical ceiling removed in the rest of the house. Best decision of all time...he hired a professional to do it!

The plastic draping from wall to wall was kind of eerie walking down the hall into the living room, and Jan and Merrill's bedroom. We decided it would be great for a spook alley at Halloween.

Lindsay's sneaking a peak at the work in progress.

Next up, the back step had to be enlarged because of the slider. The concrete steps are formed, the brick needs to be applied.
And finally, a sneak peak at the granite slab that will become the counter top in the kitchen.

From a Different Angle

Drywall is complete, textured ceiling finished and the painters primed the walls.
I was taking this picture from the back kitchen wall toward the front door when I got an idea....
.....Panorama pictures!!!
And just to make you excited for my next update....cabinets are going in as I type this!
