Tile and Cabinet Installation

Tile installation began in the master bathroom. This next picture was taken after the day's work was done, that's why the shower is full of their supplies. The sink, granite counter top and cabinets were installed just before the tile installation started.A different view in the master bath showing where the toilet will be. Tile installation also began in the guest bathroom. And the search began for faucets and shower heads. I believe Jan and Merrill are known on a first name basis with the employees of every Lowes and Home Depot in the area!.

Framing and drywall...

...but first delivery of the bathtub for the guest bathroom. Not quite sure why these things have to weigh so much! Luckily Merrill has lots of help!

Instructions for the drywall/tile installation.

The guest bathroom, tub set in place and barrel ceiling above the tub framed in. Master bath with similar barrel ceiling, pony wall and bench seat framed in. Piping for the two shower heads (on the left and right side) are installed also. A can light on the ceiling has also been installed. Drywall installed at the barrel ceiling in the guest bath. Drywall installed at barrel ceiling and pony wall of the master bathroom. The controls for the shower on the right have been raised and they had been installed too close to the bench seat. (see framing picture) Waterproofing tar has been installed on the bench seat and shower floor.

Bailey Remodel - Part Deux!

I know what you're saying...the dust has barely settled from the first Bailey Remodel, and these crazy kids are doing it again! I think they've become addicted to Ram Board (it's heavy cardboard used to protect the flooring), constant dust, and trips to Home Depot!

This time they are remodeling the downstairs (sorry Linds) bathrooms. I stay at the Bailey home during the week because it is more convenient to my job, so needless to say I am very excited for this remodel because I will benefit greatly from the new guest bathroom!

First up - the master bathroom. These are the before pictures. It's pretty good size bathroom but that shower is SMALL! A view from the shower across the bathroom. Next is the guest bathroom, again this is before.
Merrill and John are taking down the medicine cabinet in the guest bathroom and did almost all the demo themselves.
Drywall all around the tub gets removed.

Owen and Jay came over to help with the demo of the master bath. Not exactly proper construction gear but at least he has goggles on!
This boy knows his way around a working with a crowbar!I know there's some teaching going on here, I'm just not sure who's teaching who.
Continuing with the demo of the master bath.Demo completed in the master bath shower! I can't wait to see how it turns out!!

The Finished Product!

Thanks to Jan for sending me pictures of the finished remodel. Between the holidays, having the grandkids in town and the whole family being sick at one time or another, I haven't been able to update the blog with the finished product pictures.

We start as we often have, at the front door looking back toward the kitchen. The awesome paper floor covering was only temporary.

I think you'll agree it turned out really beautiful and many thanks go to everyone who helped in the process!

Bits and Pieces!!

Although I don't feel ready to post "completed" pictures and because I don't want to ruin the surprise of the way the finished product will look, I've decided to post some bits and pieces of the remodel. Let me just tell you...it is gorgeous!

This morning when I was getting ready for work I stopped to take a look around and I didn't want to leave, it's so beautiful!

Jan said last night she felt a little bad about having such nice things. I'm sure you would all agree with me that she deserves it! She has been more than generous with her time, talents, and money. Jan and Merrill have been wonderful hosts for so many family get togethers! We are grateful to them and are happy for them to have such awesome upgrade to their home!

And The Work Continues...

Like many of you, I've been away from the Bailey house for quite sometime and have missed seeing the recent progress of the remodel. Luckily Jan sent me pictures to post so you all can see it too. (Shh...no one tell Gina I let Eli sit around in his jammies watching Sponge Bob while I finished it...it's not all bad, he snacked on carrot slices - his choice!)

The lighting is in and the floor is being installed. The floor is installed but it still needs to be stained and finished.
Next step installation of the granite counter tops.....Oh WAIT.....I need to take a step back. I neglected to post pictures of the selection of the granite. Jan went to the granite supplier and was able to set the templates for the counter tops on the sections of granite she liked the best.Ok back to the installation....I really like the granite window sill, good idea Andrew! (and check out the sink! It took quite some time to find just the right under counter mount sink)
The floor still needs to be stained. The wall on the right is the new paint color, the other walls will have a different treatment.
Looks great so far...I'm so excited to see what's next!!
